Since the first installment dropped, I’ve been looking forward to the next one week after week because it doesn’t pale in comparison to the manga, sometimes even better
After first reading the manga, I was initially quite skeptical as I loved the writing and art style of the manga and thought that an anime adaptation of such an ambitious and genre-bending manga would be watered down in both art and animation, especially when I saw the first few looks (I’m very skeptical that there are fewer character details), but those concerns were quickly dispelled when I finally heard that Scientific SARU was making it, not to mention their recent lineup, Scott Pilgrim, Devilman Crybaby and Keep Your Hands Away Eizouken all fit the craziness and vibe of DandaDan, studio founder Masaaki Yuasa is also one of my favorite anime directors/animators of all time, having worked on shows like Ping Pong, Tatami Galaxy and Devilman. I was mostly worried because it was the first anime I read, but now I know that Dandadan is not only set up to be a phenomenal manga, but also a great anime.
